Freedom to Be Monolith: A Display of Transgender Visibility
The American Civil Liberties Union organized throughout the weekend a massive sign of trans exposure and justice in its Freedom to Be Monolith. A stretching setup of over 200 quilt panels, the exhibit stood over the weekend break. It’s both a love letter to trans life and a barking act of defiance, made visible at the foot of the Capitol just as the Trump management increases its campaign to eliminate LGBTQ+ existence from public life.

At the monolith, ACLU lawyer Chase Strangio told the group, “We are going to defend and construct a future that is much better for those that come after us. Whatever takes place in these buildings, Congress, the White House, the Supreme Court, remember that we have the power to maintain battling.”.
